RHS Hampton Court Garden Festival 2019 :
Back to Nature Garden
The garden promoted the physical & emotional benefits of access to green spaces.
Designer: HRH The Duchess of Cambridge
Landscape Architects: Andree Davies & Adam White
Show: RHS Hampton Court Garden Festival 2019
This fun and inclusive garden featured a treehouse built around a mature tree, complete with a swing seat inviting families to play together. A waterfall and stream provided opportunities for paddling and dam-building, while a hollow log challenged visitors to balance and climb.
The design incorporated wild trees, shrubs, and a soothing green and blue colour palette, with plantings for wildlife, craft activities, and pollinators. A playful path meandered through lush foliage, rocks, and stepping stones.
In partnership with RHS and NHS England, the Back to Nature garden showcased the physical and emotional benefits of green spaces. After the show, much of the planting was donated to an NHS Mental Health Trust, reinforcing nature’s power to promote wellbeing and create lasting memories for families.
