Balancing style and low maintenance through thoughtful material choices

Designer: Wendy Stokes
Award: BALI National Landscaping Award for Domestic Garden Construction & Principle 2018

The front garden was a striking yet practical space, with light stone pathways surrounding formal planting that mirrored the symmetry of the double-fronted Victorian house, while still allowing access for a single car. The crowning jewel of the garden was the beautiful Victorian tiled pathway, with its vibrant blue and cognac tiles adding personality and charm to the front of the house. The rear garden was designed with a modern family in mind, balancing style and low maintenance through thoughtful material choices. Smooth paving created various seating areas, including a raised day bed, while the existing brick boundary walls provided the perfect backdrop for a traditional planting palette.
